Python Boot Camp

Welcome!

Welcome to your seven-week Python Bootcamp! During this crash course, we'll cover all the same topics you can expect in an introductory-level College/University course on programming and computer science. Topics will include the basics of programming and problem-solving, selections, loops, functions, and lists.

Some GREAT News

If you are fourteen years old or over, you absolutely can learn this material! In fact, I've previously taught this exact course to very young children who "aced" the course. There is no prerequisite (required) knowledge needed prior to studying this course. Do you know how to use a computer and know how to type? Then you are all set!

The Rulebook, Schedule of Topics, & Expectations

Short story: there are no expectations. This is ungraded. If you are here and reading this, it is because you care! You likely want to learn programming; you likely are happy to invest in yourself. What you get out of this course will be directly related to the amount of time and effort you invest in it!

The schedule of topics, as well as additional rules and legal gobbledygook, can be read here in this PDF.

All notes covered during this Boot Camp are provided as PDF files below.

I want to take the course! How do I register?

To enroll in the course, simply fill out this registration form. On Monday, you will receive an email inviting you to join the Slack workspace for this course.

What is Slack?

Short answer: Slack is an instant messaging service for professionals, often used by those in technology fields. Our main means of communication will be using Slack. All registrants should download the Slack app to their phones or computers in order to participate in discussions and ask questions.

Finally, VERY IMPORTANT, the links to access the Zoom video conference will be provided in Slack. Thus, you absolutely need Slack installed in order to participate. As mentioned above, after registration and on Monday, you will receive an email inviting you to join the Slack workspace for this Python Boot Camp.
